  • What causes rust and how does rust begin?
Rust forms as a result of an electrochemical reaction in which iron meets oxygen to form iron oxide. Unprotected iron will corrode even in the driest of climates because it transfers its electrons to oxygen. But when unprotected iron is exposed to water or moisture (including humidity), the process accelerates markedly. And if salt is present, the oxidation process is accelerated even further. At Pro Fleet Care, our application process coats the vehicle's metal, which restricts and constricts oxygen exposure. This keeps new rust from forming and existing rust from spreading. Consequently, we believe any vehicle can and should be treated for rust.
  • I wash my car regularly. Why should I rust proof it?
Washing your car can be effective at removing surface salt, snow and grit. However, a car wash will not neutralize the corrosive materials you cannot see - often inside door and bed frames. In fact, car washes can be detrimental - particularly on the underside of your vehicle. We have found that high-pressure water streams can strip away powder-coating and wax designed to protect frame rails and components. When this happens, bare metal becomes exposed to oxygen and water, allowing oxidation and the rusting process to begin. Additionally, washing windows often moves the fine salt dust below the window seal and into the door and box panel of your car. Skeptical? Simply remove the tail lights and you will see how invasive salt dust and dirt can be. Rust proofing is different! It actually displaces moisture and coats the metal. This coating restricts the oxidation process that leads to rust.
  • My vehicle is already showing signs of rust. Is it too late to have it protected?
No. We regularly work with customers who have vehicles that are already showing signs of rust. With regular treatment, we have found that we can significant extend the life of the equipment even after rust is present.
  • What kind of value should I expect to see with rust control?
Our customers have found that annual rust application helped avoid the cost of future body repair and effectively extended the operating life of the vehicle. For every dollar spent on rust control, customers can expect to save an average of $6 in maintenance costs - a 600% return on investment over time. Whatever your own return on investment, we are confident that our application will create value for you.
  • How much does rust proofing cost?
It all depends on the size of the vehicle. But generally speaking, we can treat most standard sized vehicles for around $200.
  • How often should I have my vehicles/fleet treated?
In most cases, your vehicle will need to be treated annually. If your vehicle is regularly subjected to extreme conditions, treatment may need to be performed more frequently. We are always happy to discuss treatment intervals with you.
  • Can you treat other things?
While motor vehicles are our "bread and butter", we are equipped to treat most anything that is susceptible to rust. This includes recreational vehicles, apparatus trucks, weigh scales, lawn and landscaping equipment, and trailers of all sorts.
  • Do you offer any sort of warranty or guarantee?
It is very difficult to offer a "no rust" guarantee for two simple reasons: 1.) It can be very challenging to delineate between pre-existing rust and potential new rust; and 2.) The customer's care, driving and storage conditions will contribute in ways we cannot predict. However, our commitment is always the same: 1.) We will treat your vehicle as if it were our own, and 2.) We will adjust our applications to ensure your vehicle is thoroughly protected.
  • What products do you use?
We use a two step process to ensure your vehicle is fully protected. Our ROC-40 light oil is used to penetrate seams and is ideal for door panels, bed frames, engine compartments and other hard-to-reach areas. Our ROC-50 is a heavier, dripless oil that can be used in high-risk areas including frame rails and wheel wells. Of course, every vehicle has different needs. Therefore, we consult with our clients to ensure we select the mix appropriate for each vehicle.
  • Is Pro Fleet Care's product environmentally friendly?
Yes, at Pro Fleet Care we are committed to using both safe and environmentally friendly products.
  • What should I do to prepare my vehicle for rust treatment?
We can spray vehicles/equipment in any condition. However, in cases where vehicles have an extreme build-up of mud or other foreign material, we recommend the underside and wheel wells be power washed prior to treatment.
  • How long will it take to treat my vehicle?
Every vehicle is different, of course. But generally speaking, we can treat most vehicles in 60 to 90 minutes.
  • Once treated, how long should I wait to wash my car or truck?
Your vehicle can be washed right after application. However, we recommend that you wait 48 hours after application in order to allow the product to adequately creep and penetrate metal surfaces.
